Agenda 21

Do we still have to present the Trans' Agenda 21 approach? Some will get the impression of redundancy; others might have forgotten that we started back in 2004 and say really! it’s a trend and everyone is conforming before the upcoming catastrophes.
However, these few years have been enough to change the daily lives of the public, artists and teams of the Trans Musicales and to show that the festival is keeping its promise of changing its production methods. Our efforts have been rapidly noticed:

• At the beginning of 2008 the association of European festivals, Yourope, granted us the label Green n' Clean. Moreover, we've been granted this yearly label again for 2009.

• We obtained the Jury's special prize of the Sustainable Development Trophies Brittany 2009 as a reward for the singularity and the global nature of our Agenda 21* approach. It might appear surprising to shed the light behind the scenes, but isn’t how steps are taken as important as the steps themselves? Instead of an identical recipe applied from festival to event, an Agenda 21 is a program created by a team specifically for its project.

Certainly all this hasn't changed the Trans Musicales, their line of programming and their specific way of talking music, in the projects themselves and in the relations with the public. But it has improved our way of doing things. Just like a craftsman daily perfects his technique, the Trans' team shapes the projects to produce a beautiful festival and to master each step, in order to better serve the artists, their music and the audience coming to discover them. It is redundant to recite the actions already implemented. The work process continues for the fifth year in a row and two new actions are added:

- A "green light" experiment (low consumption lighting) in two stages of the festival and some of the outside venues;

- Internally, kick starting the social aspect.

*what is Agenda 21?
It is an action plan concerning the sustainable development philosophy based on three aspects, economical, social and environmental. An Agenda 21 festival works towards being economically viable, socially equitable and naturally ecologically liveable.
